Looking for reassurance that Petra House in Galway isn't a tourist trap. We have reservations there and I'm worried that I'm not booked at a Motel 8 type of place.
Any reviews would be welcome,

Its a B&B as that road has many like it and is an area than many tourists stay in. There are 100's of B&B's in Ireland so don't worry. We really do not have the Motel 8 types places here yet!
Thanks for your encouragement.
But would you recommend another B&B with more charm and not on the main tourist street?

This B&B gets rave reviews on www.tripadvisor.com.
mevans...
I stayed at Petra House B&B in 2005 for a couple nights. No need to worry about it being a Motel 8 type place.
I was actually part of a Rick Steve's tour group and they split the group between several B&B's on that street and I believe I got the best end of the bargain at the Petra House.
The room was very comfortable, the sitting room and dinning room were (at least in 2005) nicely furnished and all was very clean. The breakfast was good and the proprietors were delightful.
And, it was within walking distance of the center of the city.
Touristy here is not like say tourist trap in London or Paris. The area will be residential and close to the centre of town (Walkable) Irish people stay in B&B's too! As for charm B&B's are still a business and some are more "charming" than others but it also depends on what you mean by charm. I think its a good location and you will not be there all day so go for it from the review above. I stay at a friends usually or last time a hotel as there was a large group of us up for the weekend.
