Restraunt/Tapas in Madrid & Seville

I compiled this list and wanted to share it with the community. So Enjoy

In Seville
1. Casablanca, Zaragoza 50, Seville, tel: 011-34-954-22-46-98. It is near Plaza Nueva and easy to miss. Don't
2. El Codero in the Triana district for superb grilled lamb
3. I suggest La Albahaca which is an upscale and wonderful more formal restaurant in the Plaza de Santa Cruz (across from Los Gallos).
4. The Hotel El Paraiso at Gravina 27 and the restaurant Meson Hermanos Fernandez must be visited when in Sevilla
5. The address for the restaurante Meson Hermanos Fernandez is C/. Luis de Vargas, 2 y 4 , Telf 421 19 34 41001 Sevilla. Dinner is served at or after 8PM. Ask Carlos to seat you at the corner where you can watch the passersby as you toss your diet out the window

In Madrid
1. La Trainera, Lagasca 60. Tel: 576 05 75. Excellent fish and seafood restaurant. Not really cheap but definitely worth it. Their fish soup is a whole meal and delicious!
2. Casa Mingo down on the Paseo de la Florida
3. Restaurant Samarkand, situated in the old Railway station Atocha
4. La Castafiore Restaurant is located in Calle Barquillo 30.
5. The telef. is 34 1 532 21 00. The restaurant is closed to Calle Gran Vía, and the whole area is a very nice spot in Madrid.
6. check out Casa Paco, just south of the Pl. Mayor.
7. The most fun we had was in the Meson de Champinones (the one of mushrooms) There was this old man playing music and everyone was singing.
8. Casa Botin: fantastic food and atmophere!
9. And a great tapas bar right on Plza Santa Ana is Cerveceria Alemana: the tapas were incredibly tasty!

Nalneesh,

I applaud your taste...excellent choices. Casa Blanca in Seville is so far above any other tapas spot that it's almost a sin to miss it. Glad you found it!

Nalneesh,
Thanks for sharing your favorites. I'm glad you found and enjoyed Casa Mingo; it's a staple of mine (and lots of Madrid families) for Sundays when so many restaurants are closed. I recommended it recently to a friend who didn't like it, but I suspect she expected a more formal restaurant with a printed menu rather than a rustic, informal, bustling Asturian cider house serving just roast chicken, chorizo, salad and Cabrales goat cheese, washed down with Asturian cider-all delicious and great fun. Also great fixings for a picnic.
Thanks again for posting, and I have now added Meson Hermanos Fernandez to my Seville list and also need to try Castafiore on Barquillo.
Maribel

Nalneesh: Great timing! We leave for Spain on May 13th for 3 weeks and will be in both Seville and Madrid. We will definitely take a copy of your recommendations. Thanks so much.
