Leon de Bruxelles on Blvd. Montparnasse. A chain with excellent mussels.

Roger la Grenouille on rue des Grands Augustines. The pot au feu could easily feed two people.

Chex Bebert on Blvd. Montparnasse. Cou cous and more than you can eat.

Montparnasse 1900 on Blvd. Montparnasse. This is a beautiful place with reasonably priced menus.

If you order a rump steak (round steak) cut it at an angle to make it easier to chew.

For a shopping and an in-your-room dining experience check out the little shops at Place Maubert. Cheese, bread, wine, meats, salad, etc.

Le Bistro T and La Mere Agitee are nearby; traditional French menus with prix-fixe specials, especially at midday.

Le Parc Aux Cerfs on Vavin off of Montparnasse and Raspail. This was one of our favorites.

I stayed in that area for two month last October. I thought Leon de Bruxelles was absolutely Awful. Have no idea why they are making it as a chain. BLECH.

My best suggestion is to head to the creperies on Rue du Montparnasse and have fun. Otherwise go to the MArche Raspail for GOOD take home food - Tues and Sun is organic produce. Look for Ina Garten there.

by the metro Vavin there is La Rotonde. Parc aux Cerfs is good as well as Le Timbre (very tiny ....make sure you have reservations). You are probably by the store Bon Marche. In the large grocery store behind it (la Grande Epicerie) you can eat lunch in there. If you're in the 6th, try Chez Fernand (9 rue Christine) 01 43 25 18 55 waiters are very nice and the food is very good.

Someone on Trip Advisor just asked the same question. Here's the link to that thread. La Vache aux Comptoir at 13 Rue d'Odessa has great food and atmosphere and fits well into your budget and the requirements of your picky eaters.

BTW, those creperies are on Blvd. du Montparnasse, not rue du Montparnasse.

Creperies on rue du Montparnasse include Creperie Josselin, 67 rue du Montparnasse, which I really enjoyed. There are several others on that street. These are indoor, sit-down restaurants. There might be others on Blvd. du Montparnasse, but the street that has several in a row is rue du Montparnasse.

I've spent a lot of time in Paris, maybe six months over the years, but have NEVER been to the 14th, south of Blvd. du Montparnasse where these pancake houses are apparently located. And I wouldn't eat pancakes in Paris even if I could sit down. Heck, go to an IHOP.

They aren't "pancakes" they are crepes. The batter, the cooking and the results are entirely different. but, you probably know that

well, you know that cheap steak chain Relais de l'Entrecote has a spot they opened a few years ago on bd Montparnasse around Stanislas. If they are picky and don't like that steak, though, you are out of luck. But it is good value for what you get.

I'm not that picky but don't really like duck very well, I wouldn't think that best for picky eaters. But what do I know.

There is that traditional French chain I really like where there is something for everyone in-between Le Dome and La COupole -- Chez Clement. Now that isn't super-cheap, but their prix fixe isn't bad for what you get -- maybe 25-30 euro total. I would go for that as pretty failsafe with that crowd.

I'd say bd Montparnasse is the one most full of restaurants around there, but of course there are several on bd Quinet just east of that metro stop.

I stay in that area all the time but don't particularly like crepes so never eat in those creperies on rue du Montparnasse myself. I don't think a picky eater would go for that for dinner. Also, one of them has only the galettes, as I recall, and someone really might not care for those. There are street ones, also, along bd Montparnasse but ugh, for dinner? Some people really don't consider that a real meal, I sure don't.

There are tons of restaurants around there on about every streeet, I don't think you can miss them. Rue du Montparnasse has restaurants other than those creperies.

Place Maubert isn't anywhere near this location. There is a humongous Monoprix right nearby, as well as a weekly street market right there on bd Quinet, anyway. This isn't anywhere near Bon Marche, either.
