Restaurant Rec's **SPAIN**

(Reposting with "Spain" in the title)

Leaving in less than 2 weeks! I know there are recommendations all over this forum, but I got sick of sifting through all the old messages Lets put them all in one thread.
I like nice restaurants and whole-in-the-walls - as long as the food is good. The reality is I would probably not do more than one or two (if that) wallet busters on the trip - unless someone can convince me otherwise!!!
I will be in Barcelona, Madrid, Toledo, Cordoba, Granada, Seville and Ronda. Special points to anyone that knows of a restaurant that will be open late - like after 11:00pm on Christmas Eve (in know that isnt late on a normal night - but this night is different) in Madrid.
Thanx!

If you come across an Italian or Thai restaurant, it is probably pretty good.

These are my favorites in the places you mentioned:
Barcelona--La Dolca Herminia at Magdolenes 27--inexpensive
Cordoba--El Cabillo Rojo--moderate
Ronda--Dona Pepa--moderate
all delicious!

Have a great trip!

Toledo: the best is Adolfo, with a great wine cellar. Expensive.
Middle price choices:
Hierbabuena, La Catedral, Casa Aurelio, in the old city center.
The rest. at Hotel del Cardenal , by the wall.
La Venta de Aires, outside the walls, tourist-oriented.

Cordoba:
El Caballo Rojo (C/. Cardenal Herrero)
El Churrasco (C/. Romero)
both are around the Mezquita-Catedral.
Taverns: Juan Reina (with the best tortilla de patatas); and Lechuga.

Seville:
You can have Tapas anywhere, as are usually good. You'll find many restaurants full of tourists/visitors which are ok, but if you want places more for the locals:
Modesto, C/. Cano y Cueto
Casa Robles, C/. Alvarez Quintero (by the Giralda).
Ronda rests, I wrote in your other post.

I go to restaurants when I am hungry; not because they are the fashionable thing to do; so my advice is probably in your 'hole in the wall' category.

A Vegeterian cousin took me to a Veggie restaurant in Barcelona for Lunch. It's called 'fresco' and it was good, even by a meat-eater like me.

In Madrid, I usually take my midday meal in a Taberna directly across from the Ayuntamiento (City Hall). The cook is Asturiana and one-day a week she may even make a Favada Asturiana. Fixed price: around 12 Euros including wine.

In Sevilla, there is a Meson adjacent to la Maestranza Plaza de Toros: It's name is the same as a nearby Church (Meson de la Cinta?). I recommend it but NOT another restaurant near the Prado de San Sebastian Bus Station.

Sorry, except for Hotel Restaurants you may nave a problem finding an 11:00 PM meal in Madrid on la Noche Buena.

I went here, which is in L'Eixample (Barcelona) and it was great food and a fun scene, and also had a live dancer for entertainment who that night performed Indian dancing: Buda
