The comments on various internet sites are mixed.
I was singularly unimpressed when we tried it several years ago. The service was unbelievably slow, the dining room awkwardly laid out, and the food just OK. There's a lot of discussion among foodies trying to explain why this restaurant is such a favorite of the Michelin folks. They've elevated it to 2 star status.
And for what it's worth, the next year we gave the downstairs "café" a try, thinking they might do better in a less formal setting...no dice.
Do a search on eGullet.com for more information.
I mostly agree with shellio.
We were there when they first opened, the dining room upstairs is quite beautiful, service started out fine, but quickly slowed to a crawl as the room filled. It is/was pretty formal and a typical long dinner in Paris was much longer than it should have been.
I would have liked to have eaten downstairs instead..that I thought , got good reviews.
OK, Jacques Cagna ????
