Restaurant Andorra in Lisbon
In this place you will get the worst food ever and you will be framed by the staff in a blink of an eye!!! Moreover you will be charged everything that is on your table!!! They just put things on your table even if you did not order any of it !!! But of course YOU WILL PAY EVERY SINGLE THING!!! Just upon arrival we wanted to start our evening with a nice romantic dinnner. Right outside of our hotel, street full of restaurants and we were literally drugged into this one. As soon as we were sitted the guy brought a bottle of portugese wine and some cheese and olives. We ordered a simple steak. Steak arrived half cooked half fried - never saw such a thing before!!! - accompanied with some chips bought in a nearby shop!!! Everything smelled strange and its taste was even worse!!!
IT WAS SIMPLY HORRIBLE!!!!
To cut the story short, we were charged 105 euros for the most disgusting dinner ever!!! As said in the title: AVOID AVOID AVOID !!!!!!!

Everywhere in Portugal you are charged for the bread and small dishes of appetizers they bring to your table. It's not just this restaurant. And no one can force you to enter a restaurant - it's your choice.
All you have to do is say No Thanks and walk away. I never eat at restaurants where the staff hangs around outside trying to get people inside. You know they're not busy if their staff has the time to hang in the doorway.
Was there anything positive about your trip or did you just register here to complain about one restaurant?

cmon, give her a break - she's obviously very upset. Maybe they're not used to travel, and perhaps they are on a budget and never expected a bill of $140 + or - for a terrible meal in a dive.
Actually Andorra is a country in the mountains, the Pyrrenees I think between France and Spain...good for skiing I hear but not much else. So a restaurant named Andorra would be a bit suspect. Maybe they gave you an Andorra -ese meal and I'm sure you would have much preferred a Lisbon meal. Wonderful fish in Lisbon.

If my geography is right, this Restaurante Andorra is located at RUA PORTAS DE SANTO ANTÃO 82 1 LISBOA, LISBOA, 1150, the street that runs up from Rossio Square parallel to Avda. Liberdade, and passes the Coliseu Theatre. It is a well known "ambush alley" for tourists with the "hustlers" trying to get unsuspecting punters into restaurants.
Unfortunately for the hustlers, when I occasionally am in Lisbon and need to go up that street, they incur my wrath....in Portuguese!!! ) They don't like people who look like tourists but who cangive them "what-for" in there own language.!!!
Apart from this two things, every restaurant and business in Portugal is required to have a complaints book. This is called a "livro da reclamação". All businesses are legally required to present it to you if so requested. The local is repsonsible for the monitoring of this system and while they may sometimes be slow to do so, they do. That is why restauranteurs will do all they can to avoid you filling it in. If they refuse, you are perfectly in your right to pay, get the receipt. and then go and find a local policeman for help you insist on completing the complaints book, (in the area in question, there are always a lot around and most speak some English. )
Finally, in the same area, a block away over on Avda. Liberdade is the Lisbon Tourist Police Station. They are specifically to assist tourists.
I am puzzled about how the bill arrived at € 105.00 for 2 people, even in a place like this.
Can you post here what you had for dinner and drinks? It sounds like a mighty rip-off. Even in those type of places, I woulf not expect to pay more than € 30.00 per head for a very good dinner and wine.

So your first and only post on Fodors is this rant which seems to show that you are not an experienced traveler. Next trip (anywhere) do some research here and go armed with a list of good restaurants and you can stay out of the tourist traps.
