Restauant Suggestions for our Spain Trip

We are touring Lisbon and Spain in October and are looking for restaurant suggestions for the following cities:
Lisbon - three nights
Seville - two nights
Granada - one night
Madrid - two nights
Barcelona - four nights

We are taking a tour and the other nights the tour provides dinners. We are two seniors who love to travel. We are not gourmet diners, however, do like most foods. We like to experience the local cuisine. Except for one or two very special dinners we would like to keep our dinners to 100 euros or less. I am a wine drinker but my husband is not so that always cuts down on the bill.

As always I thank you to all of the forum contributors who help by sharing their knowledge and experiences so that the rest of us can have memorable travels.

Last year, we had a wonderful dinner at Carmen de Aben Humeya (12 Cuesta de las Tomasas) in the Albayzin. Terrific dinner with spectacular views of the Alhambra. Here's the day in Granada (with photos) when we dined there. Dinner (with wine and dessert) was €144.

I have Barcelona covered for you. We spent a week there in April and had fabulous meals every night. My recommendations are Tast Ller, Café De L' Academia, Arcano, Tapeo and Llamber. All of these are in El Born or the Gathic Quarter neighborhoods between Las Ramblas and Citadel Park. The filet with truffled demi glace at L' Academia was so good that on the way out we made reservations to go back later in the week. Great food in a romantic setting. Tapeo is a hip, modern tapas bar serving gourmet level food. The small plates of beef cheeks and honey ribs were very good. Arcano is an atmospheric place with tan stone walls and ceiling arches. The food was delicious. Llamber was across the square from the side of our hotel. It was a fun and lively place with very good tapas style dishes. We had a great meal at Tast Ller. This is a small place that you have to book weeks in advance. They have a set tasting menu. All of these places are highly recommended.

Some recommendations for local cuisine in Barcelona, Madrid and Sevilla within 100€ budget:

Barcelona.
- 7 Portes from 1836 is an institution in town, tons of history in the walls and excellent, traditional Catalan food: http://www.7portes.com/angles/index.php

I never leave Barcelona without having the Arroz Caldo here: http://www.foodspotting.com/places/1...73-arroz-caldo

- Small and family-owned Ca'l Estevet is one of those timeless places.
http://www.restaurantestevet.com/en/
http://www.thefork.com/restaurant/ca-l-estevet/6662

- And Can Culleretesfrom 1786, the second oldest restaurant in Spain. No fuss tradiotonal Catalan food in the best atmosphere, run by mature women who don't have time for small talk, but a fine Barcelona experience that is still very popular with locals. Lunch here is also a good idea, and it opens at 9pm at night. http://www.culleretes.com/

Madrid:
- I always come back to Casa Alberto from 1827, also an excellent little tapas bar in front of the restaurant. Popular with both tourists and locals, and a creative touch on traditional dishes: http://www.casaalberto.es/en/
https://11870.com/pro/casa-alberto

- For a traditional Madrid tapas experience, I recommend Casa Revuelta in C/Latoneros, 3, just off Plaza Mayor. Great tapas and very popular with locals. Famous for the Bacalao rebozado tapa, but plenty of other goodies as well. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restauran...ta-Madrid.html

Sevilla:
- Enrique Becerra is a Sevilla classic:

http://enriquebecerra.com/

- I have a very soft spot for laid-back La Pajarita, in the local atmosphere San Lorenzo/San Vicente district where you'll find some of the best restaurants and tapas bars in town. https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaura...Andalucia.html

In Seville Vineria San Telmo on the edge of Santa Cruz serves delicious tapas (or larger plates) and is well within your budget.

And in Lisboa, I can reccomend the wonderful 17th century Casa do Alentejo, both a cultural center and a restaurant. Traditional and affordable food from the Alentejo district and spectacular atmosphere: http://www.spottedbylocals.com/lisbon/casa-do-alentejo/
http://www.casadoalentejo.com.pt/en/
Restaurant menu: http://www.casadoalentejo.com.pt/en/menu-restaurante/
Tavern menu: http://www.casadoalentejo.com.pt/en/menu-tavern/

I also like the Cervejaria Trindade, in an old monastery right in the center of town: http://www.cervejariatrindade.pt/trindade_english.html

In many restaurants in Lisboa, you should know that they charge you quite step prices for the bread, butter, oil and olives etc they always put on the table unless you ask the waiter to remove it.

Here is a fine documentary about the food culture in Barcelona. Starts with a couple of food markets and the fabulous tapas bars in here, and then on to 7 Portes, which I listed above, after some 15 minutes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YOg9a6T4c2c

About the Boquería market, one of the best in the world: http://www.gardenista.com/posts/la-boqueria-market/

Barcelona: would go in a heartbeat to any of the following places.

best Tapas restaurant TAPEO DEL BORN / ANEM DE TAPEO. http://www.tapeoborn.cat/home-page.html https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W-MKRTSzEmI
Tomato, burratta cheese salad
Fideua black catalan cuttlefish pasta/paella (really tasty)
Pork ribs (were amazing...but i do not see them on the menu right now)
Eggplant fritters with lime juice sauce
Veal burger with foie gras (we had no room for it, but everyone raves about it.)
Roast sausage and wild mushrooms (just like veal burger could not try but wanted to)
Chocolate cream with bread, salt and olive oil
Catalan cream dessert
Cava sparkling wine sangria. Yum!

BODEGA LA TINAJA, I think it's like a wine shop/restaurant. the atmosphere in this place was really amazing. I found it by accident while doing Google Map research. I think it used to be the old cellar of a nearby church. Tapas and wine. It's just a few meters away from Tapeo place, the Picasso Museum, and the flamenco place. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restauran...Catalonia.html
at this place you must must MUST... try the PAN CON TOMATO!!!! bread with tomato, garlic, salt and olive oil. Topping with Jamon ham if you want. it's my go-to recipe since I got back from Spain )
Catalan cheese
Jamon
Cod fish spread.
everything was pretty good! But the Pan con Tomato was the BEST..... worth going just for that.

Fancy dinner/lunch at a GAUDI designed restaurant. CASA CALVET. Actually wish that I could use this for our last "farewell" dinner (it was much better than what i ended up with) but our lunch we had here was really nice. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restauran...Catalonia.html

amazign and reasonable flamenco in a super cool surroundings. (2min walk from Tapeo Place, La Tinaja place and from the Picasso museum, all in the same street!) PALAU DALMASES , 20EUR including one drink. When I say a secret place, I am not kidding.. Most people do not know about it and you might easily pass it by if you were not looking for it carefully. http://palaudalmases.com/home/en http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attractio...Catalonia.html

By the way, if you want an unusual and delicious snack in Granada, near the Plaza de Bib-Rambla is La Bicicleta (Plaza Pescaderia 4). It's here where we had our incredible Aubergine; sticks of lightly fried eggplant that were expertly stacked like Lincoln Logs and drizzled with brown cane sugar syrup that poured like honey. It tasted like French toast. There is a photo of it on this day's activities.

Wow Tom, that was a creative touch to the Andalucian favourite Berenjenas con miel. Here's a recipe for the next tapas night: http://www.andalucia.com/gastronomy/...s-com-miel.htm
And some does it your way ;-) http://www.cocinario.es/recetas/bere...ritas-con-miel
