Reports on Relais Bosquet & Hotel Relais du Louvre
We just returned from a week in Paris, and spent a couple nights at the Relais Bosquet, and the remainder of the week at the Hotel Relais du Louvre. I spent alot of time researching and reading comments made by people on this board as well as several other sites. My thoughts....
1. Relais Bosquest: we had a room on the 5th floor overlooking the street, with a view of the Eiffel Tower. Needs updating but is generally clean. The weird thing was the toilet was down the hall from the sink/tub. But that was fine. And there are washcloths. There is complimentary coffee/tea in the room which was a wonderful thing to have first thing in the morning. The automatic blinds really work in keeping out the noise and light. Overall, we'd stay there again if we chose to stay in the 7th. Since this was our 2nd trip to Paris, I wanted to stay in the Rue Cler area for a bit, and then go over to the Louvre area. Which brings me to...
2. Hotel Relais du Louvre: This hotel left both of us feeling down. We had a superior room which was dark. The girls at the desk, Sophie & Marie, are very very nice and speak English well, so that wasn't a problem. We had a superior on the 3rd floor (their 2nd) and the view was of the wall of a dirty tiny courtyard. If we didn't keep the curtain open, it was too dark. There was no coffee or washcloths. But the worst thing was the bed, it had an awful mattress and was about a foot off the floor. Needless to say, our backs weren't in good shape in the morning. The room, while not large, was an adequate size, just dreary. However, the location is wonderful, we loved it.
My last thought on this is that on our 1st trip to Paris, we stayed at the Hotel d'Aubusson. While I much preferred the location of the Louvre, the d'Aubusson is far superior, and for the short walk, I'd probably stay there again, except for the fact that they're getting quite expensive.

Unn,
I stayed at the Relais Bosquet in 2003. I agree that the furniture was a little banged up and outdated, but otherwise I loved the decor for its un-fussy elegance and comfort. It seemed to me that they had plenty of staff at the Relais Bosquet and whenever I saw a maid or houseman, they were in a cheerful mood - a sign of good management. Someone on the housekeeping crew must have noticed my sweet tooth (I devoured the packets of cookies and cleaned out the little dish of candies), because the goodies were replenished whenever I stepped out of the building. I had a good experience at the Relais Bosquet, and would return.
