Renting bikes in La Rioja
Hi,
My husband and I are planning on taking a day trip from Bilbao to La Rioja region. We will be driving down but would love to rent bikes and spend the day biking and visiting wineries. Can anyone suggest a central spot from which we can rent bikes?
Thanks,
Michelle

Some of the hotels in the Rioja have bikes for their clients, but I am not aware of anyone renting bikes anywhere in the area except possibly in Logroño.
As far as visiting any of the bodegas while out biking, it's possible, although there are not that many I would try to reach by bike if you have to travel from village to village. It can take awhile.
Besides, you will need reservations at any of the bodegas you plan on biking to and if you don't speak Spanish, then you will be limited to going when they are offering a tour in English. This is not California (Sideways) or Washington where you can just stop by for a tasting and pedal off to the next stop along the trail.
Have you read Maribel's Guide to the Rioja? You should find it useful in planning your day.
