Rental Car Ireland
I have been reading many threads on renting a car in Ireland and have completely confused myself. We will be purchasing the CDW upfront and not on a worldwide credit card.
I have received quotes from both budget and Dan Dooley both include CDW. Dan Dooley quote is 200.00 more - What am I missing?!?
As I understand it you can also purchase additional waiver to reduce your deductible if something were to happen to the car...Is that correct??
Thanks in advance for any tips!!!

Ask Dooley and Budget, email them both and see what comes back. It is possible you are being offered a great deal. More likely there is something not included.
Super Colision Damage Waver SCDW is available from all rental companies although some give another name to it.
You can also purchase daily cover from insurance4carhire but companies put a big hold on your payment card and should anything happen it is down to you to sort it with the 3rd party insurance.

Insurance4carhire is only available to people residing in Europe (or maybe the EU) now. They sent me a very apologetic email telling me so. I believe there are other daily covers available but haven't begun checking this out yet.

Tony, I had taken out the annual policy last year for my trip to Ireland and on its anniversary they e-mailed me that they could not renew it. Sorry, I had not thought about the daily policy still being available. Thank you; I will look into that for '13.

My initial quote from AutoEurope for a 26-day rental of a compact four-door automatic with air in Ireland was USD1855.88 including a five percent discount. This included CDW because I found out, much to my chagrin, that neither of my Visa cards nor my American Express card would cover it. When I learned that my World Master Card would provide coverage for me in Ireland I called AutoEurope back and my bill was reduced by USD450.00. When I reduced my rental period by one day and they factored in a slight reduction by Avis (the agency they booked with) I have a total cost o USD1152.59. Not shabby.
