Rental car from florence to rome

We are renting a car in Florence, driving to Chianti and staying a few nights. Then, we are driving to Rome from Chianti. We hope to stop through Sienna on our way. Anyway, I am wanting to know the furthest north rental car drop-off in Rome, so as we don't want to drive in Rome!!! When I call Avis or Hertz or any of them, noone knows exactly where the many locations are in Rome....So, I am hoping someone may have done this and can help. I do have zip codes for all the drop-offs locations, but can't seem to find a zip code map of Rome either!

I haven't driven the route, but you can use www.mappy.com and plug in zip codes/addresses and it will bring up a map of the area which may help.

you can go to mapquest (italy) or google maps and type in the addresses and zipcodes of your rental locations.

a lot of people drop off their rental car in orvieto and then take the train into rome.

personally, we have driven into rome twice, and plan to do so again this summer. yes, it's quite an adventure and requires active navigating with maps. but it's definitely doable. we didn't even have a navigational system. If you decide to do this, there's an easy rental drop off at Villa Borghese. but you can probably find one close to your hotel.

good luck!

Hi R,

Drop the car in SIENA and take the bus to Rome Tiburtina for 5E. http://www.senabus.it/

You can also drop the car in Orvieto (well worth a visit) or Chiusi and take the train to Rome TE.

Enjoy your visit.

Viterbo drop off and then grab the train to Rome. If you've never heard of Viterbo, its 78 kms north of Rome , the best preserved medieval center in Europe. A gem...so much so that US universities now use it instead of the capital Roma. Soon to have an int'l airport ...check elegantetruria dot com website for local info.

Hello ReadytoHoneymoon,
My husband and I are picking up our car in Florence June 12th then off to Cortona six days then Sperlonga two days then back up to Rome the 20th. The Hertz people can certainly give to you the zip code and location for their stores. The easiest way to coordinate drop off and hotel is to get the hotel's zip code and tell the agent or when on line you can match them. We are dropping our car at the following location.
Location: ROME VIA SARDEGNA
Address: VIA SARDEGNA, 35-PICK UP
Location Type: CORPORATE
Location Hours: MO-FR 0800-1900 SA 0800-1700 SU 0800-1300
Phone Number: 0642904022
It is the main pick-up and drop off in Rome. Hope this helps.

We usually try to turn in cars at airports...I haven't flown in or out of Rome so I don't know if that will be convenient for you...would that be an option? Then take a taxi directly to the front door of your hotel or apartment.
