Hi All,
I am trying to reserve train tickets on the Renfe website (Madrid to Seville first), and it forces me to first register as a new user, and then enter a N.I.F. number, which I found on google to be the US equivalent of a SSN. Obviously, I do not have one of these--how do I register/make reservations without this number?
Thanks

With your passport number
NIF is our identity card number , it's equivalent to the passport (here they have the same number)
Thanks so much for the quick answer! This has been frustrating me for hours.
During summer vacation, I went to www.ibizaspain.info and www.allmadrid.com with my parents, enjoying the fresh stunning beaches and gorgeous sight of the bay… Especially, in ibiza, we had a good time, joining the intense dance music parties, very fantastic! In madrid, we visited the historical plazas, monuments and churches. There are a lot of scrumptious food. In the evening, we stayed in the well-equipped hotels at reasonable prices with excellent service. Oh, one more thing, when I chatted with Spanish about their real lifestyle, they are open-minded and kind. I enjoy this trip very much. Which country attract you most? Waiting for your chat.
I still can't get this site to work. I enter in my passport number and it states: 'invalid N.I.F.' It also asks for Name, First Name and Second Name and I have tried entering every combination of my name that is possible. Help!
I knwo you don;t want to hear this BUT how long are you going to be in Spain prior to using the tickets?
In Spain we generally have a name and two surnames (our father's first plus our mother's first). In US and UK I know you have two (or three)names and one surname, so use these filling all spaces. Our NIF is an eight number plus one letter, such as 12345678A. Try using a number from your passport or whatever. I believe this number is used only for log-in, (obviously use always the same number) and along the purchase you'll be asked the Credit Card number. O
wic,
You'll have to switch to the English language page in order to register using your passport number as an ID number. The main page will not accept anything but the N.I.F.
What is the difference between the trains on the renfe site and the rail europe site? On the Rail Europe site, it says all the AVE trains from Madrid to Seville are booked on the day I need to travel in August. Does that make sense? Will Renfe give me more options?
Probably, I don't think RailEurope has access to the whole amount of train tickets.
Hi, I'm also trying to book tickets with renfe, and I can't figure out NIF. I tried using my passport number, on the Enlish page, and it says its invalid. I'm leaving in a week, and I need to book these soon!
Guys, I just tried buying tickets on the Renfe site and the same thing happened to me - it won't accept my passport # as an NIF #. I tried making my passport number 8 digits long and adding an A at the end and it didn't work. Any suggestions? We will be in Spain for 3 days before we need to take the train, but I'd rather have the tickets booked beforehand. Thanks in advance!
Buy them at the airport the same day you arrive. There are Renfe offices and also Viajes El Corte Ingles offices where they sell Renfe tickets too.
Corrida and Flamenco, or sun, sea and sand. Spend holiday in Spain, you can be enjoyable at any time of year. There’s a dream holiday for everyone there, from the ideal family beach holiday on the www.aboutmenorca.com, to the exciting of the Thorpe feast in Andalucia, and the cultural highlights of www.costadelsolspain.org, Seville, and Granada – you will find the real Spain!
We registered on the Renfe English language page using a passport number (American passport), less the last digit, which makes a total of 8 digits.
You can only use the Spanish language page if you happen to be a citizen of Spain and have the N.I.F. number.
