1) We will be traveling from Madird to Sevilla, Sevilla to Barcelona and Barcelona to Madrid. next week). Is it true we need to purchase our tickets in advance of our trip and we are committed to those times or we lose our tickets? I'd like to have some flexibility, but dont want to risk not being able to get on the train.
2) We land in Madrid 1pm and want to go directly to Sevilla. Should we buy a ticket for 5pm or could we try for ealier?
3) Should we buy the Spain Pass? For 160 Euros for 4 trips it looks like a good deal, but there must be a catch-?

Like airline tickets, buying train tickets early usually gives you a big discount.
There's an airport bus to Atocha train station so think you'll be okay taking the 5pm train.
1. No, u do not have to purchase ahead. With the volume of journeys M. to S. and B. to M. you are fairly sure to be on one of the journeys that day. However, only three journeys a day S. to B. Do you not want peace of mind?
2. 'We land' - no you are scheduled to land and even if you do land at that time I would certainly not be trying for earlier.
3. As you have not purchased far enough in advance to find the deep discounts, do the maths.comparison and the pass will likely come out ahead.
