Renault Eurodrive - 4 X 4
We've used the Renault Eurodrive program in the past and have been very satisfied. This year we're planning to pick up a car from them in Germany and drive through the Czech Republic and Slovenia before transiting Italy and ending in France for the drop-off. (Only Renault will let you do this without awful drop fees or worse...)

My question is... has anyone got any experience with the Renault Scenic 4X4 SUV? On paper it looks great, but here in N. America there are no Renaults anymore, so I'd like to know how roomy, comfortable, etc. it is. Any experience? Thanks.

John,
I had occassion to see one in France this past Sept. - spoke to the owner too.

It's a mini-suv a la the Mercedes A Klasse or Audi A2 - which aren't in the States either. These are "tall" (almost 6' high) vehicles, with very little room from windshield to front bumper like a van.

From outward appearances it seemed roomy enough for 4 people, but not all their luggage. The 4x4 is a Puch viscious coupling system - similar to the VW Syncro - you have 2 wheel drive until slipping is detected.

It seemed to have pretty high ground clearance and when I questioned the owner about how it handled on the highway, he claimed it was fine.--
mj
John,
I think the Renault car for you would be the Renault Estate-It has 17 cubic feet of cargo space and roomy for 4 people.
I had the Espace last year and didn't care for it. Harder to maneuver along narrow European roads-Also the luggage area was exposed.
