Reina Sofia guided tour?
We are visiting Madrid in late March 2015. (We really are, I bought the flights yesterday!)
We'd like to have a guided tour of the highlights of the Reina Sofia, but I'm having no luck finding a tour there.
I'm surprised, as Guernica is pretty famous. ( Isn't it? )
Or is the museum really small, so no need for a tour?
If someone has some info about a guided tour, there, I'd love it if you could let me know. Thanks!

Timely query, BumbleB6, I will be in Madrid end of October on a tour with a free afternoon and could use any info regarding the above, as I plan to do the "trio" with the Prado being the first, as part of my tour.Appreciate response!

The museum offers a free guided visit focusing on the Guernica (which in my humble opinion is the only reason to go to the Reina Sofia). See info here:

You dont need to hire a tour guide to see the rest.

If you want to use a reliable guided tour service, then check out Madrid Museum Tours (http://madridmuseumtours.com). Very knowledgable!

The wonderful and quite large Reina Sofia museum is very well worth a good guide. The second floor with Picasso, Dalí, lots of other painitings, posters, films, photos etc., dealing with a couple of the greatest civilizational breakdowns of the 20th century, the Spanish Civil War and WWII, completely blew my mind off a couple of years ago. Powerful Guernica almost came as an anti-climax to all the other strong impressions.

@ kimhe -- Can you speak to the difference(s) between the audio guide and a human guide? I found the opportunity to turn my audio guide off, and reflect on what I had just heard, absolutely invaluable as I made my way through the Reina Sofia. I can't imagine that I would have liked being nudged forward, no matter how gently....

Had no guide in Reina Sofia, but experienced a very knowledgable guide in Sagrada Familia last year. Thought I knew most of what was to know of both Gaudí and the church, but she told of details, made comments and answered great questions from others in the group in a way that the standard audio guide of course can't compete against.

Here's the link from Robert that works.

kimhe - did you use one of the Sagrada Familia docents or were you on a private tour?

Thank you, Robert and adrienne, for the link. Honestly, that's more than I'd like to pay - but I have time to think about it this winter...
Haven't found much else.
I may just get the Madrid Card and get the audio guide. I also like being able to turn the guide off momentarily to reflect, when I've done an audio guide before...
I agree, though, that a good guide can greatly enhance a museum or monument visit.
