Reims Cathedral 800th Anniversary Light Show
Last night, along with a few hundred others, we saw this beautiful and interesting presentation. It was well worth the side trip and overnight here. Here's a YouTube link:

More info at:

The presentations continue until October 23.

And if you miss that show go to Le Mans

They have a very similar show for many years, every year.

Anyone knows if those light and sound shows(Amiens,Chartres,Reims and as far as I know also Strasbourg)will take place again in 2012?(starting to plan a relatively long Paris stays with visits to almost all those cities). Thanks for any advice, and to Maine and Ribeirasacra for those links.

We are thinking of a day trip to Reims to see the Cathedral. I do not drink alcohol at all, and a trip to a champagne house would not be pleasant for me.
What have folks done in Reims, including the cathedral, other than visiting champagne houses. How did you like it?
Piggy backing, I know.

We visited the Musée de la Reddition, a small museum in the school building where the Germans surrendered to Eisenhower on May 7, 1943. There's a short film with English subtitles and several rooms with well-displayed exhibits. It's a little out from the city center behind the SNCF station. Probably about a 20-25 minute walk from the cathedral, or 10 minutes from the station.

We didn't have time to do this, but the Tourist Office has a pamphlet with a suggested walking route to see Art Deco sites.
There's more information at http://www.reimsartdeco.fr .

Ah, but gardendiva, I am not the person that you want to be interested in champagne. I've been trying to keep it off my list of interests for many years, and I hope the world is now a better place.
I do think we will probably do Reins. I am also thinking about Malmaison, but we only have 6 days in Paris and we already have a long list of things to do and see.
I will probably drop Malmaison in favor of Reins, as we are cathedral lovers.
