Reichstag lecture and tour

I want online a week ago to book something for sept 3,4 or 5 (sat, sun or mon). The only thing available was a dome visit at 8 am Monday. Do you think it is worth the trouble to check in person once we arrive in Berlin on Sat to see if something would be available for the guided tour/dome visit or a later dome visit time? It looks like Parliament doesn't sit til Wed.

You can always check the website, once you arrive in Berlin, to see if they have availability. A guided tour is really not necessary. You can take an audio guide which is the perfect 'companion' for your visit. It's a motion censored audio guide.

Don't know if it is still the case, but a reservation at the restaurant
was a way to see the Dome .

I agree that the dome is worth a visit and that you really don't need a guided tour, especially with the audio guide

Try to reserve the first entry slot of the day. Our visit was on an unexpectedly sunny winter morning; not only were the colors spectacular for viewing and photographing, but the dome was not yet full of people, either.

The full tour requires an advance reservation for security reasons.

Thanks to all for your input.

I am relieved to to hear that the audioguide will be just as good as a guided tour.

Our 24 year old son will probably miss out on our 8 am slot cause unlike us, he will be going out at night. Perhaps Sunday evening will be dull .

Our son has been studying German for 8 months on his own with classes, tutor and Pimsleur cds. You think it would be overwhelming for him to sign up for a tour in German?

We loved the tour as well as the audio guide of the dome. I suggest you do everything possible to include both!
