Regent Seven Seas Cruise?

We booked a 2018 Regent Seven Seas cruise for 2018. Friends just returned from a cruise on this line and told us that onboard WIFI rarely worked and many passengers were complaining about it. They also said that tour groups were large and narration was difficult for them to hear. Just wondering if these are valid issues, do others share these concerns? We want to know if the price we're paying for this cruise (including airfare, food and drink, tours and gratuities) is worth it?

Hi Yooper, there is a board for cruises, you might try also posting there as I hope you will get more responses that way. Sorry, I'm not a cruise person myself; hope the right people see this.

You probably should re-post this question on the "Cruises" forum - use the "Change Forum" link at the top of this thread.

To answer your questions:

We've taken several RSS cruises. Shipboard internet is SLOW (it's been SLOW on every cruise line we've been on so that's nothing new). If you are an internet junkie you'll be frustrated.

Tour group size varies depending on the number of people who sign up for a particular tour. We've been on tours with as few as 20 people and as many as 3 or 4 bus loads. Here again, tour group size is not that much different from other ships of similar or even larger size.

We never encountered any problems with hearing the guide's narrative. They normally ask at the beginning of the tour "if everyone can hear them" and also to let them know if at any time you can't. On those rare occasions when the speaker column was too low the problem was corrected right away. Of course, your friends could have been on a bus where the PA system wasn't working but that would be an isolated case. In many indoor venues (like museums, etc.) we were often supplied with ear buds and small radio receivers that would allow us to hear the guides' commentary. If you can't hear the commentary - let the guide know. They will do their best to accommodate you.

Since internet service, tour group size and a loud PA system are a small partbof what you are paying for - your air fare, accommodations, food, alcoholic beverages, entertainment, etc. are the more costly items - you have to decide for yourself if the cost of a RSS cruise is "worth it".

Thanks for the quick feedback. No, we're not Internet junkies but want to stay connected with home. We also want to get the best out of our tours since we'll probably never visit these locations again. I appreciate the suggestion to repost!

Although the tours with this cruise line are free, in some instances you might be better off going it alone. It's hard to advise you without knowing the ports but it might be something to consider. We rarely take the ship's tours, then again we've not been on a cruise where the tours were included in the price.
