Record breaking rain in Paris

Since people planning trips are always asking about the weather, you might want to know that Paris has broken its record for the amount of rain for the month of May with one (rainy) day left. Yesterday alone, we got the equiavalent of one month of rain.

What will this mean for June? Well, the beginning of the month is going to be rainy, too. For the rest: wait and see.

It was pretty bad here in Antwerp as well; flooding, traffic mayhem. Lightning struck the tower of the Antwerp cathedral.

Yes, it was pretty bad in the Antwerp area. My plants don't need to be watered for the coming weeks. No floodings in my village, thank god.

I Mentioned this to my French coworker and he made a comment regarding dirt and homeless people that I won't repeat here.

There were four people killed in the flooding in Bavaria Sunday. Plus all those children in Paris and Germany hit by lightning.
It skirted us, we had a heavy shower yesterday evening, with a couple of claps of thunder, but that was all. Further south was badly hit.

Our street floods with heavy rain, being the lowest point in the town, so I am very happy it missed us.

This happened in middle Franconia near Ansbach. The Ansbach - Würzburg railway line is still closed. That means that Rothenburg o.d.T. presently is accessible by train from the north only.

Affected as the group was being struck by lightning and some children making a cardiac stop. Two (?) were reanimated, one is still in a critical condition.

Lightning strikes: http://www.indiafinancenews.com/chil...ootball-pitch/

The vierdaagse here, and in several other places was cancelled yesterday because of the forecast and the fear of lightning.
The vierdaags is a peculiarly Dutch thing I believe where people walk (or cycle or swim) a set distance every day/evening for four days. The Nijmegen Vierdaagse is the best known and internationally attended, but most towns have them, with schools, scouting groups, and individuals taking part. I assume it will be a driedaagse (three days) here this year. My grandsons are walking it, the 7 year old is doing 5km, the nine year old 10km.

Thunderstorms, rain showers, torrential downpours, and cold weather all over the Dordogne for the foreseeable future. It's almost June and we're still using the fireplaces every night. It's great for sleeping, and we don't have to water the garden, but it's far from normal.

Authorities are closing some part of the roads along the Seine.

Since it will continue to rain, there can be more.
I love to watch the Zouave at Pont de Neuilly when there is a lot of water to check if he gets his feet wet.

Some pics of what we could get, unless Kerouac made a better report during the last 'flood' in Paris.
