You should state your budget to get proper responses.

Jessica: If you plan to travel this August, you should book very soon. Some hotels are likely to be filled already. Your range of budget, unfortunately, is not going to buy a 5-star hotel in that area, unless you take the cheapest room category (see below) but there are many choices.

You might want to state budgets in Euro, rather than dollars, but I will do this one for you: Your range is 250 euro to 288 euro. Or up to 360 euro. That would get you the lowest category of room at Il Covo in Positano, which is really good and just off the beach, with a pool.

I would advise taking a look in Amalfi; for example, here:

We stayed in the Hotel Marincanto in Positano with our two teenage sons two years ago. We had a Family Suite with a fantastic deck overlooking the town and sea. The only downside was that there is no elevator to that room, so only book it if you're able to climb many stairs. There are other rooms that do have elevator service, though. The hotel was wonderful, with delicious breakfasts on a garden terrace overlooking the sea. I believe it is in your price range.
