Recommendations please regarding trip to Swiss Alps and Italy lakes

My husband and I want to spend approximately 10 days in Switzerland and northern Italy this Sept or Oct. time frame. We are thinking of taking the Bernina Express from Chur to Tirano and stop for a day in Pontresina area, and then go on tour the Italy lakes, finally take train from Milan to Venice and stay at Venice for 2-3 nights before flying home.

1) We are in mid-50th
2) We do not want to drive and prefer use the train or bus.
3) We definitely want to visit Venice.
4) We would like to go with a group tour to tour the Italy lakes.
5) Is this a good itinerary to see the Swiss Alps? Or should we visit Berner Oberland instead?

We are open for any suggestions. Help please regarding itinerary and tour company to use! Thank you!
