We are a group of friends that have rented three apartments for a 4 night stay in Paris this November. They are located at 12 rue Malar in the 7th arrondissement and two of them have gourmet kitchens.

We do plan to take advantage of the local markets for a few meals and then dine out as well.

I am looking for recommendations for the following:
- Wine store with good selection and prices
- Fromagerie
- Boulangerie

I believe there is a Monoprix in this area to purchase the basics. Is this correct?

I am interested in bistros within a 30 minute walk or quick metro stop where we can eat well without breaking the bank. Fixed price menus of 16-10E lunch and 25-30E dinner would be ideal.

Also interested in a great steak tartare in the area and my husband a daily fix of creme brulee.

Suggestions appreciated!

Well for a start you are on the same street of Chez L'Ami Jean, one of the places Patrica Wells has always raved about:

There is also a good boulangerie one street over from you called Secco:

Your main shopping street will probably be Rue Saint Dominique for shops and such and your will have Rue Cler right there for fresh things-it is pretty well known every since Rick Steves "outed" it

I will let others jump in, but in general as foodies you should be very happy with the location.

Chez L'Ami Jean is great but will be above your stated budget. I believe the lunch menu is 35 and dinner menus start at 42.

For markets, I like the market on blvd Grenelle and rue de Commerce, Wednesday and Sunday mornings.

I don´t have any recommendations for boulangeries on that side of the 7th but arguably, Quatre Hommes on rue de Sèvres is one of the best fromageries in the 7th if not Paris. Also on rue de Sèvres is la Grande Épicerie which is part of le Bon Marché. La Grande Épicerie has absolutely everything you could possibly need to cook almost anything albeit the prices are not inexpensive.

Two restaurants which may be of interest (reservations required):

Pottaka - with one of the most inventive chef´s in Paris. Nothing here is traditional, everything is excellent. Menus on the weekend 34€, maybe a bit less during the week.

Le Violon d´Ingres - but like Chez l´Ami Jean it might be above your budget window.

no, there is no Monoprix in the 7th arr. near that location. There is only one in the entire arrondisement, and that's over east near the rue du Bac metro stop. It's rather small, but does have some specialty foods. The closest big ones are probably in the 15th, there is one at the Motte Picquet metro stop and a real nice one on rue Linois, just west of the Charles Michels metro stop.

There is a FranPrix on rue Cler and a large supermarket at the Ecole Militaire. There are other "supermarkets" than Monoprix.
You will have no shortage of good places to shop and eat.
On rue Ste. Dominque is Fontaine de Mars, a la carte, and you'd probably be able to stay in your budget.
on av. LaMotte Piquet at the head of rue Cler is our favorite--La Florimond--and I think its prix fixe is 35E.
Think about "averaging" your dinner budget by eating in one night
or such.
Do NOT eat at the Café Marche on rue Cler except maybe for breakfast.

There's a Carrefour grocery store ~80-ish on Rue Ste Dominique. We're staying near there and I've "traveled" the neighborhood via Google Maps streetview.

AlysonRR is correct. Carrefour City is at 84 Rue Ste Dominique. Just head south on Malar to Rue Ste Dominique and turn left. It's on your left. As I recall from 11', it was a pretty decent store, not at all small like some I've been to in Paris.
