Many years ago, we went to "Figelmueller" (sorry, no idea how to spell it) restaurant in Vienna. The schnitzel was bigger than the plate! It was a fun little place. Ask your hotel to make you a reservation if you are interested. This goes back a few years, but it was packed when I went.

The Hilton Prague is very central and just round the corner from a Metro station and trams, for a nice cheap place with GREAT beer and fantastic food the Sklep bar is 2 stops on the tram (no5 for sure and possibly the 9 and 26) going towards Zizkov area,it is right opposite the Viktoria Zizkov football ground and the tram stops almost outside the resturant.

U medvidku is a popul;at palce with tourists and locals, they have their own micro brewery there and also do fantastic tankova Budvar (the original budweiser) it is only a minutes walk from Narodni Trida Metro station ,also loads of trams passs this metro stop too.

The cafe Louvre is also a very short walk from Narodni trida and is a bit of class, still well within your budget

I know from a previous thread you have some issue with walking so i will try and think up a few places near tram stops or metro stops.
You will find any number of places fairly close to the hotel but it is not an area i have eaten in much in recent years but i will have a look around the area when i visit again in a couple of weeks (going to the Czech Beer Festival)

don;t know where my brain is today must be thinking of the forthcomming beer festival.

it is a stunning place, concert halls,meeting place ,bars and resturant venue, if you scroll dowm to the bottom of the web page there are links to the resturants within,not the cheapest place in the city but should just be within your budget but a nice place and often have live music in the main bar/resturant area,I always pop in there when i am in Prague it is just lovely.

Uncle Gus, if you have any breakfast recs near the Prague Hilton, it's the one place that doesn't come with pre-paid breakfast. Familiar with Cafe Imperial in the Hotel Imperial? Someone else suggested it, but perhaps a little on the expensive side? Anything reasonable near the Hilton would be appreciated.

there is a small Arcade area near the Hilton,I remeber being in there a couple of years ago getting a sandwich from the Subway there (I was going away for the day) I am pretty sure there was a few places there,in the other direction is the Paladium shopping Mall ,(no more that a 3 or 4 minute walk)there are loads of cafes and resturants in there on the top floor ,bound to be able to get breakfast in there

We stayed at the Hilton last winter. While it is a bit of a walk from the true center of the city, it is a very nice hotel.

There is a Gloria Jean's coffee very close by for coffee and a light breakfast and the Palladium mall as mentioned has lots of options. There is a good coffee/bread and pastry shop on the ground floor right near the entrance that we enjoyed. It is about a 10-15 minute walk at a good pace from the Hilton.

The mall across from the Hilton rarely had anything open in the early morning when we walked through.

there is a Billa Supermarket at Namesti Republiky just a short walk from the hotel, you could always get some stuff in there the night before,I am not sure but there may be a small cafe in there too.

We were in Prague for 3 days in early May prior to a river cruise and stayed at the Prague Hilton on the river.

The three restaurants I can recommend are Cafe Imperial, Hergetova Cihelna (good food and great views), Kolvokna Restaurant.

If you get tired of the local meat and potatoes, we enjoyed Danieli (Italian) in Vienna and Orange Moon (Thai/Indian) in Prague.

We didn't find a lot of good restaurants in the Old/New Town border area in Prague; the municipal house is GORGEOUS but the food is pricey. Cafe Louvre was very nice, a respite from the crowds, and only a block off the Tram #22 stop. There's also a Tesco right at the tram stop if you want to buy groceries.

On the castle side, we had the best goulash at Malostranska Beseda, literally 10 ft from the Malostranska Namesti tram stop. Perhaps a bit touristy, but elegant, tasty, extensive menu.

Prague has become expensive, and difficult to find good, yet affordable restaurants... Like unclegus above, I also vote for Cafe Louvre, an old establishment, a Prague classic, that was a great place for us when visiting there last year. Just an hour ago I sent the info to a friend heading for Prague, so here it is:

I was in the cafe Louvre about 4 weeks ago with my friend Jason from the LivingPrague website.

we had brunch there aboot 11.30 am , the cowboy breakfast, (bacon & eggs with orange juice toast and a slice of cake) plus a veniesse coffee each was less than 600kc for the 2 of us, food was excellent and service superb.

BTW I have no commercial affiliation with this website ,|i have just been friend with its owner for many years and personally think it is a great website offering a very good service to folk visiting Prague.

We stumbled into The Red Peacock, in the old town of Prague, on a little side street, on a rainy cold October Saturday afternoon. http://www.prague-czech.cz/detail.php?id=708. It turned out to be the best meal we had, in terms of real Czech cuisine, in 4 days in Prague.

Update on transport inPrgaue.Narodni Trida metro is going to be closed for about 2 years for refurbishment(badly needed) clsoed on the 12th July.I have often recoomended this Metro stop as a meeting point and tram interchange so if using the metro system just be aware you cant get on or off at this station.
The LivingPrague website is great .I have known Jason who runs it for many years ,first met him through another travel website and we have been friends ever since we always try and meet up when we are both in the city.His info is always upto date,he used to live in Prague but now lives about 15 miles outside
