Recommendations for Ibiza
Hey gang, we've decided to visit Ibiza for about 10 days this June. We've never been and are hoping those with experience can help us out. We'd sure appreciate any suggestions for hotels, restaurants, etc.
We're in the process of looking at guidebooks, of course, but would like some personal recommendations and anecdotes from you all.
I know a lot of fodorites aren't too keen on Ibiza. So, no need to tell us its all about sex and drugs and discos.
We're going for a pure hedonistic, decadent vacation (we deserve it!). So, we're planning on eating and drinking, hanging out on beaches, renting mopeds and cruising the island, shopping, celebrating, etc. We're in our middle 30s but, on occasion, can still play like we're in our middle 20s. This trip will be one of those occasions.
Any help along those lines would be greatly appreciated!
merci d'avance

ruechapon,
I have been to ibiza twice, when I was in college and 4 years ago (I am now 27) so I may not be totally up to date on specifics but perhaps I can help with generals. Actually, I am currently planning another trip there for July for my honeymoon.
Ibiza is super fun if you like to party but it's also a gorgeous island with nice beaches. Do you know if you want to stay in the middle of the action or away from it all? If you stay outside of the main town areas, you need a car. Things are pretty spread out there anyway so even though there is lots of action in the port area of Ibiza, the actual clubs are not in the town and some are a hassle to get to. Cabs are also hard to come by. Last time I stayed in someone's apt very close to the port and it was convenient to have so many bars and restaurants near. But we still have to bus/cab/hitch rides to beaches and clubs.
I know Pacha has a hotel that's by the Pacha club and that's a fun place to be if you want to be with other partiers in the midst of the action.
For my trip in July we want to stay in small agrotourism hotels and we plan to drive everywhere the nights we go out.
There are also villas and apartments for rent and that's a good way to go if you really value your privacy. The villas are not cheap but getting an apt in town can be financially smart since you can make your own breakfast, lunch, etc.
If you give me a better idea of what you are seeking, I will be able to help more. You can also email me at [email protected].
Good luck!

Hi Catharyn
'near things but not in'
Do you want to be near 'busy' things or 'quiet' things?
We spent a very enjoyable week in Portinatx located in the north of the island (30 minutes or so by local bus to Ibiza town').
We stayed at these apartments overlooking the bay. The views were great and the apartment was too. Flat screen TV, DVD player, internet access etc. Their rates are very reasonable. Close nice restaurants and bars but not too close, perhaps a 5 minutes stroll.
The resort is quiet and the beaches superb.

Been to Ibiza about 9 times know the Island well and think its the best place, Figueretis is a good base close to Evissa old town by boat or taxi or you can even walk. Portinax is to far away from things. Yes you must get mopeds(be careful) roads can be busy. Beneris beach is a must as well as las Salinas beach, but beach at Figueretis is good and food good here as well. Studio in Evissa old town is highly recommended food lovely atmosphere excellent owners really nice. I could sell Evissa to you all night, if you want any more specific info let me know
