recommendations for clean, safe, hotel in London pls
Any recommendations on a hotel (safe, clean and Ok-priced) for a young single female traveller just arriving in London? It's only for one night after arriving in Heathrow and will have to find my way to Kings Cross the next day to catch the train to Middlesbrough. Thank you!

Check out www.laterooms.com. There seems to be a few nice ones at a good rate in Kensington/Bayswater. I would pay a little more for your comfort if you are alone.

Another area to consider is Bloomsbury near Russell Sq. At that location, you can take the tube from Heathrow (Piccadilly line) straight to Russell Sq station. And the next day, hop back on the Piccadilly line for 1 stop to Kings Cross.
There are plenty of small B&B's around Russell Sq that are reasonably priced. That area is very safe as well.
I stayed by myself a few years ago in a single room at the Garth Hotel and it was fine. It is about a 10min walk from Russell Sq stop(with luggage).

Langland Hotel was another that I've looked at:

And Ridgemount:

Hope this helps.

Hi there...
I agree with yk; go to Russell Square area. I stayed at the Harlingford which is a 5 minute walk from Russell Square. Check out its website at www.harlingfordhotel.com; it runs 75 pounds a night for an ensuite single with full breakfast. And it's close to Kings Cross (you could walk).

I have a similar situation. I just got the Heathrow Holiday Inn Ariel for $48 on priceline. i'll sleep at the airport and continue my trip the next day, taking the underground to the train station.
Take bus 105 from Heathrow to front of the hotel (free within Heathrow zone) also can take hoppa bus for 5 pounds round trip.
