We have rented a cottage in St. Remy for a week in May. Do you have suggestions for restaurants which are in the low to moderate range? Also recommendations for particular cafes which serve light lunch or dinner? Many of the resto recommendations in the forum are several years old and hope to find some current ones. Many thanks.
recommeded moderately priced bistros/restos in St. Remy

If you're heading west of St Remy on a day out, try La Table de Marguerite in the countryside just before Beaucaire. It's in an old farmhouse, a beautiful setting, and family-run. They have great lunchtime menus. It's good, authentic 'campagne' cooking.
Thanks Rosemary--we have actually never been to Beaucaire or Tarascon--I recently read a little article on ProvencePost which made me think that it would be fun to make a stop there. Maybe Marguerite can def make it worth our while. Many many thanks for your thoughts--will hope to get a word or two on St. Remy as well--I have a feeling we may take out from the Charcuteries and bakeries for some meals as we have a lovely terrace overlooking the grounds where we are staying.
My pleasure Robyn. To be honest we spent more time cooking that eating out, as we found St Remy restaurants quite pricey (most of Provence was, come to think of it!) The good thing about venturing to Tarascon is they have a great weekly market, with really good produce, so the "Table" may be a good stopover on the return. St Remy's Wed am market is excellent too. It really is a great base for exploring that area. We visited the asylum where Van Gogh did his most famous works, went to Les Baux, and stopped at the Cathedral d'Images on the way up; went to a bullfight in the St Remy arena; and of course the Glanum ruins. We daytripped to Arles, Chateauneuf du Pape & Avignon from there too.
Thanks again Rosemary--I have wanted to get to Beaucaire--and I think we may dine some in cafes where we can choose some smaller and less expensive options--and with our home with a lovely kitchen, we can bring in from the markets too. We'll be in Nice and Paris as well, so we may save our dining big $$$--such as they are when we will have to eat all meals out.
Cafe des Arts on the main fare, bd Victor hugo, great for people watching
and Maison Jaune
