After hearing what a wonderful time my husband and I had on our wirlwind trip to Germany last summer, my mom (age 55) is now dying to go!
So I have promised to take her to Germany and Austria for two weeks this coming summer. For Christmas, I'd like to buy her some fiction (or maybe non-fiction) books set in the two areas. FYI- I do not think we will be visiting Berlin or Frankfort.
Any recs?
Thanks!
Lauren

One book offering deep insight into German history and politics that is so enjoyable to read would be John le Carré's "Absolute Friends". A thrilling great read with lots of in-depth knowledge and expertise from an author who seemingly knows very well what he's talking about. Highly recommended!
