There are many good ones in the UK. In Scotland there is Craigendarroch on the DEE, Cameron House on Loch Lomond, Kilconquhar in Fife, and about 10 other really top class ones.

In England there are too many to mention From Cornwall/Devon to the New Forest, to Kent to the Forest of Dean, all the way up to Northumberland. There are even canal boats you can trade for. There are a few properties in London but they are very hard to get in to.

Over the years my family and/or I have stayed a total of about 20 weeks in 9 different RCI affiliated properties.

Parag, we just spent a week at Kilconquhar Castle,nr St Andrews, Scotland. It is a 1266 Castle and has been tastefully converted into apartments. We had 3 bed, 3 ba.1800 sq ft in the castle itself, with the turrets in our living room. There are some villas on the grounds so specify Castle if possible. There is plenty to do n site, and lots of history nearby. We did 4 castles in one day iwth a wonderful guide. Brantridge Park, W.Sussex, built 1753 was once a Royal Hunting lodge , it is rural and takes a taxi daily or use of a vehicle. They have a white peacock on site who is tame and loves to be fed. This location also lends itself to lot of history. j

Candace. Both are properties are magnificent. The units are very similar. Roomy and well appointed.

Cameron house is right on the shore of Loch Lomond. Some of the units don't have a clear view of the loch but in a minute's walk you are on the shore. There is a marina and a golf course. The Main bldg/hotel/leisure center is very large and has everything you could want. A HUGE bonus for me was the first time I stayed at Cameron House I saw SEAN CONNERY - be still my heart! He was there for golf and was eating in the hotel dining room.

The flats at Kilconquhar are more elegant but Cameron House and Craigendarroch are my favorites.

I also love Forest Hills - not as posh but a wonderful location right on Loch ard near Aberfoyle -- but they (and all the Barratt properties) are in the midst of an owners revolt over fees so there are few available to trade at the moment.

Janis-Thank you for the response. It sounds like we would have a good placement either place. What area outside the resort did you enjoy better and why? If you don't mind me pestering you.

To xxx we have really enjoyed our timeshare and found it to be an excellent value but we bought it at a low price as a resale and made sure to choose a place we had toured and whose maintenance and taxes were low. We also made sure it was a highly sought after week by calling RCI before we bought it.

Candace: If by "area outside the resort" you mean what things to see in the surrounding area -- you know about Craigandarroch already -- The Dee, Braemar, Crathes, Balmoral, Banchory, Speyside distilleries, Huntly, Spittal of Glenshee, Corgarff, Dunnottar etc, etc.

Convenient things to see around Cameron House (all a day trip or less) -- Loch Lomond; Hill House (Charles Rennie Makintosh's masterpiece) The Trossachs; Stirling; Lochs Katrine, Ard, Earn and Tay; Glen Coe; Oban and Mull, Glasgow; Carae Gardens; Killen/Falls of Dochart; Lake of Mentieth/Inchmahome Priory; etc.

Which is better - flip a coin. I love both areas. You probably can't go wrong with either one.
