Rapallo,Genoa,Cinque Terre and Pisa-any last minute tips?

Leaving on Sunday to Pisa and then on to Rapallo where we are spending 6 nights while visiting Cinque Terre and one day in Genoa-any last minute tips, suggestions, restaurants or spots we should definitely go. Thanks!

Well, we did not make it to Pisa as we were flying standby so am hoping to get to Rome and then train to Rapallo tomorrow.
EKS-thanks for the Fodors links.

If anyone has had any experience going to 5 TERRE on the train from Rome-PLEASE let me know.

We've done it twice. Easy as pie. On both our trips, we had to change in La Spezia and then it was straight from there. I think about 4.5 hours total. Easy to do!

Hi dutyfree!

We went from Ovrieto to Santa Margherita Ligure. Local train between Orvieto and Florence, so made several stops. Continued on to Pisa where we had to change trains.

Since we were there, we decided to check our luggage, catch the next train 3 hrs later, and see the Tower, etc. We were glad we stopped and had plenty of time to see the Tower (not open to climb then) and the duomo, which was a beautiful and impressive surprise.

You've probably already seen Pisa. The trains were very easy. We started in Orvieto about 9am and got to SML about 3:30 - including the 3 hr intermission in Pisa.

Hope you make the next flight and have a lovely time!

SRS-did you buy a ticket from Termini to Le Spezia and then a local ticket to Rapallo? Thanks!

I am not sure what you are asking but we took one train from termini to Rapallo, then took a taxi to SML. We would have had to change trains so we decided just to taxi over. I am fairly certain that same connection would have gone on to C5.

Can you find a route on the internet?

dutyfree,

Sorry I got confused, we done the exact opposite twice - Manarola to Roma Termini. We bought the whole thing at once.

Unless you are stopping somewhere enroute and aren't sure how long it will take, I think you should buy the entire thing. I just ran a quick search on trenitalia.com and it looks to me like you won't even need to change trains. It's a straight shot - about 4 hours and 45 minutes. Have fun!

Sally

Be sure and take the boat from Rapallo over to Portofino. Postcard beautiful
small fishing village with some shops,
restaurants, a church. A few hours there would be enough time to see it. You could do a search for some photos to entice you. Have a good trip
