I posted this once in the wrong forum. Sorry.
I know everything is looking for something different out of a trip to Italy, but just generically rank the following in terms of your preference:
Florence
Venice
Coast( Amalfi, Capri, etc)
Cinque Terre
Feel free to add any other places except for Rome and Tuscany.
Thanks!

Venice--a magical place whice is unique in every aspect. I have been back three times and I am in awe each time.
Florence and Cinque Terre tie and they are two totally different experiences. Florence is to visit the Uffizi Museum, the Academia with The David. It is more of a small city, very walkable. I went twice and would not want to go again. Cinque Terre is a string of small villages along the coast. Hiking through them and taking your time feeling the charm of each little town. We stayed in Santa Margherita and visited Portofino. Those are towns that you want to just relax, dine on delicous food, swim in the ocean or the hotel pool. There are no museums that I know of. If you choose Santa Margherita or Portofino, it is a great place to end your journey because you are off your feet and just soaking up the beauty of the oceans and the smell of lemon groves.
