Dear all,
What is the difference between Swiss travel pass and Eurail pass?
I saw in website Eurail pass is cheaper than Swiss travel pass
Can i travel in boats with Eurail pass??
can anyone please explain
I'm planning for a 6 days trip in Next july 2015

Eurail covers SBB (Swiss Federal Railways) and some private operators.

The Swiss Pass covers SBB and most private operators.

That's the key difference, other than the price and range of periods available.

Both the Swiss Pass and Eurail do cover some boats in Switzerland. The Swiss Pass includes free entrance to many museums, also, I don't think Eurail does.

Eurailpasses do not cover several key scenic trains as Swiss Passes do - like in the Jungfrau Region above Interlaken and trains from Brig/visp to Zermatt are also not covered - Eurail gives 25% off some but Swiss Passes cover nearly all and parts of the Glacier Express - Swiss Passes give 50% off on most funiculars and trains to mountain tops - Eurail zilch.

Boats are pretty much the same except notably Lake Lugano is not included in Eurail and yes Eurail does not covered entry to any museums. Swiss Passes cover postal buses and city trams and buses Eurail zilch.

And contrary to your findings about price the Swiss Pass is far cheaper than any Eurailpass covering Switzerland.

Eurailpasses are valid on all mainline trains so if just transiting the country fine but if going into Alpine areas Swiss Passes are much MUCh more useful.

Again Eurailpasses are not cheaper than the Swiss Pass- where did you come up with that - not even close.

all in Switzerland - and then if going to more than one location or base the Swiss Pass could be the best deal but also check out the Swiss Transfer Ticket and Half-Fare Card which could be better deals depending on your travel plans. But if just Switzerland then no Eurailpass would be as cheap nor cover nearly as many things as most tourists will be taking.

What are your tentative plans - then others can recommend options better.

In addition to Swiss Passes there are local passes like the Berner Oberland Pass or Jungfraubahn Pass that could be better if only going to those areas - other regions have their own too. If going to one base in an Alpine ski area your hotel may have some kind of free pass for ski lifts.
