Rail passes

Hi, I have heard that there are two methods of getting discounts to attractions in London. One is to get the London Pass which is self explanatory. The other is to get the Travelcard via National Rail at a station and apparently this gives you two for one entry to many attractions. Has any one had experience at this? Which option is better? Pawsha.
