about 200 euros ok
nana5 -- Try Santa Francesca Romana a Ponte Rotto in Travestere. Great location, good restaurants, great walking area--we walked everywhere from there including the Vatlican and the Collesium areas. Check out their lovely website too. Shows the rooms--overview of the hotel, hsitory, etc. Not fancy rooms, but clean and quiet. A good breakfast is also included.
Good luck. Ciao!

nana5--and yes, we have stayed here twice--4 nights in 2008 and another 4 in 2011. Loved it!

I'm with you, nana5. We like quiet as well as comfortable bed and pillows. We have only been to Rome twice, but stayed at Hotel San Carlo both times and were quite pleased. The hotel is on a relatively quiet street - nothing like the madness near Piazza Navona and the Pantheon. We asked for a quiet, superior room each time. We were able to walk everywhere easily from the hotel; although we did take a taxi to the Vatican, we walked back.

This year the roof garden has been converted to a breakfast room, so I would ask to be located away from that.
We had a room in the Santa Chiara that was on a small side street just around the corner from the Pantheon, but with the AC on was blessedly quiet!
The Hotel Porteghesi (sp) is where I stayed in '09. It was very quiet and very well located. It is literally within a 5 minute walk of Piazza Navona, Spanish Steps, Campo Fiori. The room was small and we paid just under 200 a night.
Hi N,

We very much liked our stay at http://www.hotelmaikol.com/
No noise that I can recall.
Hotel Alimandi on Via le Vaticano across from entrance to the Vatican Museum. Very nice, friendly, good location, no noise.
