Trip Report Quick Italy Trip Report (Positano, Rome, Venice)

Jump to last reply

Quick trip report to cover highlights, suggestions, what I'd do differently, etc.
Italy with my daughter (age 21) June 5 - 16th.
Aerlingus, JFK to Naples, (Via Dublin) and Venice To JFK (Also via Dublin)

This was my first trip to Europe since 1974 when I went with my HS to Spain. Daughter's first trip to Europe.

4 nights Positano -
Hired private driver from naples airport to Positano. www.tourofitaly.com 85 Euro. Giovanni, our driver, was a trip! He was fun, informative and quite a character. Highly reccommended.

Hotel Savoia. Deluxe double room. Perfect for us. Great location, large room and very large bath - double sinks, separate jetted tub, shower - terrace with lounge chairs and partial view of the ocean, TV, desk, AC, refrigerator, safe, great staff, breakfast. Would stay here again in a heartbeat. Classy, charming place. Room was 190 Euro.

Lots of walking, shopping, time at the beach. Positano is stunning.

All restaurant experiences were great - Bruno, Max, Le tre Sorrelles, Covo dei Sarenci.

Took a day trip to Capri - Dropped us at Capri from 10 - 230, then a trip around the island with stops at grottos, and then a swim in a cove with prosecco and cookies. Bad part was that the waters grew rough while we were on the island and the trip back was a bit overwhelming for some. We were gone 8 hours. It was tricky getting off the boat at the dock with rough waters. But very memorable.

Trip from Positano to Naples train station, hired tourofitaly again, but this time were charged 120 Euro. Not sure why.
