My husband and I will be attending an 7:00 opera starting at the Volksoper in Vienna. Does anyone have a good suggestion for a quick bite to eat before the performance? We probably won't be in the mood for a full on dinner - maybe a quick bite - salad or sandwich- at a cafe or the like. Any suggestions? BTW, my husband is "mostly" a vegetarian - meaning, he'll eat fish. Many thanks.
Quick bite to eat near the Volksoper in Vienna?

You have various choices.
The Oper Cafe is just across the street from the entrance to the Volksoper.
Obviously convenient - limited menu -accustomed to oper goers and they can serve quickly.
This an alternative place for a drink at the intermission too.
Just down the street ( Wahringerstrasse at #68 ) is Cafe Weimar.
Traditional Vienna Cafe - some vegetarian dishes-
fine atmosphere and food - pastries- salads - soups etc.
Also good after the performance with piano music then.
A favorite place for many performers from the Volksoper.

Kim Kocht - close to the Volksoper and stage door.
Small restaurnt - well regarded by some - would not recommend as this place requires hours to dine and I find it overpriced, overcrowded and some arrogant service at times.
Thanks for the tip.
Well, I'm back home and did end up eating dinner at Cafe Weimar. It was very nice - the service delightful, the ambience pleasant and the food very good. Thanks for the tip
