When I googled taking the ferry from Datca to Bodrum, I found Aegean Tour Travel and sent them a request. I've received a quote from them to take the ferry in mid-October from Datca to Bodrum and then to get a transfer to the Bodrum airport. They want me to send payment in advance to reserve my spot. Has anyone used them before and is this the best way to book the ferry?

In the past years, October was considered off-season and the Bodrum-datca ferry either worked less frequently or not at all.
Also, reserving by telephone directly with the ferry company a day or two in advance used to do the trick if you have a vehicle. Otherwise, you would not need a reservation as just a passenger.
I do not know Aegean Tour Travel.
However, the ferry (if it is operating in mid October) lands very close to the center of bodrum town and it would be very simple to get a taxi from there to the airport without arranging for a transfer beforehand.
If you do not mind my asking, why don't you fly from Dalaman instead of Bodrum, thus replacing the ferry with a longer transfer to the airport, at least part of which can be done by bus or dolmus from datca to Marmaris?
Thanks so much for all the info Otherchelebi. The reason I was looking at flying out of Bodrum was that it sounded as if it took a shorter time to get there from Datca than to get to Dalaman. However, since it's a little unclear how often the ferry might run in October, it sounds as if I might be better just to fly out of Dalaman to make sure I'd make my flight. If I recall correctly, somewhere I think google told me it was about a 3 hour drive from Datca to Dalaman - does that sound correct? I sure appreciate all your help.
