Question For Ira

Hello there, Ira,

I realize that your stay at the Hotel Grillon in Beaune was quite a while ago but I have a question regarding that stay. I have received a reply from the hotel regarding the rooms and rates available. There seems to be quite a discrepancy between the standard double room, the superior double and the twin double. I wonder if the difference is due to the size of the rooms or the quality, or both. Do you recall any details regarding which room you and your Lady Wife may have occupied? Any recollection would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Edie...I don't want to step on Ira's toes..no ma'am, no sir, no way! But if you decide against the Grillon, I'm suggesting a hotel in the heart of Beaune, just a block away from the Hospice landmark, with free public parking just two blocks away, easy access in and out for your day-tripping. Just two years ago, we were very pleased with these odgings and have directed others to it. Breakfasts are a bit stratospheric, but there are numerous choices very nearby.

Hotel Athanor, city center. I'll hunt for the web page and list below.

Thank you for your suggestion. Which type of room did you stay in.

A very nice room,in fact the only one on the first floor. Quite large, king bed with a good sized, nicely appointed bathroom. I think we paid less than 100 euros. I would suggest you ask for it.

Hi e,

AFAI can recall, the more expensive rooms were larger, but I don't think of better quality.

Enjoy your visit.

Hello Ira,
I think we'll go for larger. We do love Beaune (and all of Burgundy for that matter, especially the wine).
