Question about ferry from Bodo to Moskenes
My wife and I will be taking the ferry from Bodo to Moskenes on Saturday, July 12. We will have no automobile. Ideally, we don't want to have to decide which ferry to take until that morning. Considering that that's on a Saturday during the high tourist season, should I buy my tickets in advance or will I be able to buy my ticket immediately before boarding?

No choice - you can't book passengers - you can only book a vehicle in summer months as it's considered part of the road network. There will be no problem with passenger capacity. You may not even be able to buy the ticket before boarding - you probably pay on-board!

Mike:
Scroll down to #111-169 for scenes of The Lofotens and as far north as Tromso.
...we took the ferry with rental car ...Moskenes is hardly much of a town, and you had best check out bus transportation..frankly, I don't recall seeing any and there are no railroads in the Lofotens. If you can rethink it, rent a car in Bodo and possibly return in Tromso (or Narvik)or back to Bodo.
The Lofotens are exceptionally scenic, easy driving, not much traffic, colorful villages and towns along the spine...even a "tropical" white-sand beach in Ramberg(see pix).

Thank you, tower. We booked a rental car in Moskenes. The company rents cars that are older than what the mainstream international rental companies keep in their inventory. http://www.rentacar-moskenes.no/bil-uk.htm
