I'd appreciate hearing from people who know this hotel. It's on our "short list" of possibilities for a 4- day visit next August. It seems from what I can tell to be a handsome, quiet, comfortable place. Our main concern (other than whether we'd be able to get a room not facing the street) is that it doesn't have a.c. That may nix it for us, since we don't like to sleep with windows open. Thanks much for any input.

Your other post says quiet is the most important thing. Abbey Green is on a pedestrian precinct w/ no vehicles. This one is right on a street.
It isn't a horribly busy street - but there will be a lot more street noise than at Abbey Green. If you can get a room on the back that would help.
But it is a very nice (and fairly expensive) hotel. I have not stayed there but have eaten twice in the Olive Tree restaurant in the hotel. Good, not extraordinary food, very good service, and on the expensive side.
Thanks for reply.
I've read a number of posts that say that rooms in Abbey Green can be quite noisy-- street noise from revelers walking home at night. Also, we tend to prefer hotels to B&B's, and I've read that Queensberry has much more of a hotel feel to it (and that it's more upscale than Abbey Green, though not in Priory league of course).
It's great that there are many different kinds of accommodations, since everyone has different priorities, pleasures, and pocketbooks.
I appreciate such sites as these which enable me to gather information so that I can hopefully make an informed choice. We tend to be pleased as punch with our accommodation choices.
Thanks once more.
