Barbara, I have not been there, I have read a few articles about the town and how nice it is. I certainly would like to make it a stop on my next trip. Trey this website http://www.quedlinburg.de/neu/englisch/
it seems to have some decent info.

Quedlinburg is a delightful town with typical half-timbered houses and a large castle high above. Even better, it is located in the Harz mountains, a very hilly, deeply forested area, excellent for short hiking trips. Also in the Harz are the towns of Goslar and Wenigerode, Thale and Eisleben (where Luther was born and died) all worth a visit. Do a Google search and you will find lots of good info. Though a delightful area it has yet to become overly popular with non-german tourists
I was in Quedlinburg about 5 years ago. Of course, one person can't say for certain what would interest another, but I definitely enjoyed it and the area. There is no single don't-miss attraction there, but the town is a lovely ensemble of half-timbered houses with carved wood decorations, and the hills are nice for walking. I was there in early May, and it was not crowded, but I understand that it does get its share of visitors later in the season.
