Puglia; hate to leave it but how to get back to Toronto

We will be in Scorrano Puglia and have to get a flight back to Toronto on Oct. 1. It's been really difficult to get flights to Toronto without spending 24 hours in various airports around the world. Any ideas on how to get back home Oct. 1?
Also…we leave Naples on Sept. 24 to arrive in Scorrano for our holiday there. Wondering if we should rent a car in Naples and drive down (past Lecce to our villa) or take the train? The train seems to take a very long time and we will need a car to get around however we just aren't certain what would be best option. So two dilemmas…drive from Naples or take car? And most importantly, how to fly home. Just thought I'd throw this out there in case any other Torontonians have done this in the past.
