Public Transport from Heathrow to London?

I am arriving in Heathrow on Thursday afternoon and need to go to Central London. What is the best public transport option to get to the city from the airport? I am on a budget!

Most likely the tube. Rush hour isn't optimal, so pack light. http://www.thetube.com to figure out which tube lines to take.

The tube...it is easy. From heathrow to south kensington it was around 45 minutes and cost a few dollars. A cab would cost you around 50 pounds.

The Piccadilly line of the Tube goes from Heathrow into central London. As others said, it will only cost a few £'s to get into town. The downside of the tube is you have to schlep your own luggage - and there may be some stairs involved. What area/hotel are you staying? We can give you more detailed directions if we know where you're headed.

A bit more expensive is the Heathrow Express (<u>www.heathrowexpress.com</u>.) It will take you into Paddington Station, where you could take the tube or a taxi to your hotel.

WHERE are you trying to get to in central London? For many areas the tube is the best/cheapest way if yiu don't have a ton of luggage. But for some specific areas the air bus works really well - a little more expensive but no need to transit through multiple tube lines up and down stairs and escalators. So before we can give you the best advice -- where is your hotel?
