Provins on a weekday?

I am heading to Paris on May 22. Since I have been several times (or more like numerous times) I am trying to plan some day trips.

I am considering Provins, but due to the travel schedule I probably would only be able to go on a weekday. Reading reviews it's apparent there is more to do on a weekend, but would a weekday visit still be worthwhile? Are things open? (I am not really into the "shows" so missing them is not a deal breaker)

Thanks!

I went on a week day and it was fine - everything in town I wanted to see was open - but the town itself is the real draw - a hill town on the footsteps of Paris.

Thanks! I have been reading and I think I will probably be happier on a slow day without the "shows"

Provins can get crowded on weekends too as many French come here then. A week day lets you have the town pretty much to yourself, especially in May.

Take regional trains from Gare de l'Est - about an hour to Provins - just buy tickets at station - no reservations needed nor possible I think.

Don't panic when the train changes direction on the next to last stop -- it has to go to a different track to get to Provins.

Yes I was trying to think of that but was foggy - trains go mainly direct but I was wondering if we were heading back to Paris at that point.
