Propeller Island City Lodge (crazy hotel in Berlin)
My husband and I are staying at this CRAZY hotel in Berlin, the Propeller Island City Lodge (check out the rooms below) and I'm so surprised that I can't find much on these boards about the place. Is it just too funky for the Fodors crowd? If not, has anyone stayed there and what was your experience? (the lack of info has got me perplexed!)

Here is a thread with a post of people who have slept there.

I am seriously thinking about staying there on my next visit to Berlin. Location is quite good, near famous Kurfürstendamm. And you have good access to the underground train system, so everything else is reachable.
As far as I know, the hotel is owned by a pop music producer. This explains why it is so cool.

My 2 cents- We returned from our trip last night. I was a little apprehensive about how the Propeller Island City Lodge was going to be- would we feel like dorks because we aren't cool enough? would they be really serious like on the Saturday Night Live "Sprocketts" skit from the 1990s?
We had a GREAT experience there- the staff was super nice, the other guests were quite "normal" (including a couple of families with 10-year old kids, it seemed- how cool is that if you are a kid, to get to stay there??)
We stayed in 2 different rooms. The location was great (although a touch far from the S-Bahn station- about a 10 minute walk after a long day of sightseeing).
LOVED it. The staff said that they have very few Americans staying there. She thinks that we are a bit timid about staying in unusual surroundings. However, after a single night there, the whole placed seemed perfectly "normal." Really a memorable experience- and reasonably priced!

I just got back from a whirlwind trip to Hong Kong - and there were two showings of a globetreker-type TV program in Chinese w/ some other asian language subtitles all about Propeller Island. It was a kick watching, not understanding a single word but pretty much understanding everything
The man in the documentary got to sleep in 5 different rooms over the course of his stay.
