I was checking the Eiffel tower web site and it mentions long waits due to technical difficulties with the elevator. Has anyone heard about this or been there recently?
Problem with entrance to Eiffel tower?

They are down to a single elevator. Prepare for verrry long waits, or make reservations - weeks in advance.
I have definately heard about this, its been on the forums I go on for last month at least, in fact , they originally thought they would be up and running my mid may, then june, now rumor is could be later even.
The solution is to take the stairs. They are not so bad, I have done them,, and I am middleaged and not a fitness buff. The wait for the stairs will be , and always is shorter.
What is the cost for taking the stairs?
5 euros . I think its an extra 10 if you want to purchase a ticket to the top from second level.
