Probably will fly out of Rome- affordable hotel suggestions?

Hello! We are planning to spend our honeymoon starting in Florence and a week in Tuscany. There will be an additional two days at the end of our trip (flying out Monday). We originally wanted to fly in and out of Florence (and "bookend" our Tuscany trip that way). However, it looks like flights are much cheaper flying through Rome.

As I realize it would be crazy to go from Montepulciano up to Florence for 2 days, and then back to Rome for a flight, we will spend the last two days in Rome!

Any suggestions for inexpensive accomodations (would love to keep it under $100 for a double- possible??) that are convenient to the airport would be great.

Thank you!

I would go to www.venere.com and look at the 2 star hotels they offer. That might be a good place to start. If something looks good, and in your range, then take that hotel name to tripadvisor.com and get up to date reviews from folks that have stayed there.

TarheelsinNj, there are some well-located convents that would suit your budget.

Thank you! I will look into those.

Has anyone used Cross-Pollinate.com to find a place to stay?

A woman I work with used them for rental of a small apartment in Trastevere about 2 years ago. She was travelling with 2 girlfriends, so that made the most sense for them. They were pleased with what they got and had no problems (apt. wasn't luxurious, but very well-located).
