Well, I can highlight and copy like, a paragraph, and then paste it on a "stickie" (I've been a Mac person for so long, but I think it would be like just pasting it to a text note). The guides on her site are PDFs so you should be able to save them on your computer as PDFs and possibly then you can copy and paste only the portions you want to another document.

I don't think highlighting and copying parts of a PDF are as straightforward as in a regular document. On my computer (and my version of Adobe), you don't just highlight it with the mouse, you have to first go into the "edit" tab on the top and then choose "copy", and THEN you can highlight a section. I don't have a MAC, just a DELL laptop with MS XP.

I have a Dell laptop too, and copy and paste PDF files all the time. If you click on Select All, it should automatically highlight the entire text. Then hit Control C, open a Word document, and hit Control V (works sometimes when the actual Copy/Paste commands don't).

thank you, I realize now that my problem is that it is PDF file. I also have a Dell laptop, but obviously not the program to transfer a PDF file to Word. I don't know how to download one so I am printing the pages I want.

PDF files are typically password protected (secure file) if they contain copywritten material. It will normally keep anyone from copy and pasting. If you were using had an iPad or iPhone, you would be able to load the files and take them with you.

thank you all. Robert, just before I read your post, a friend told me that I could not copy and paste this file because it was protected.
Did the other posters who gave me advice, try to copy Maribel's guide?

I just downloaded and checked the Properties on the Rioja guide using Acrobat Pro. The file allows printing only, copying and page extraction is not allowed without a password. It's set up to use on the iPad and iPhone, as well as other smart phones and tablets with the right software.
The only way anyone would be able to cut and paste would be to bypass the documents security.

You are right, I was not able to copy or cut and paste from the guide, but, I was able to do a print screen of the sections I was interested in and then paste into a Word document. I would then crop the image of excess parts and then enlarge the text to make it more readable. Maybe that will work for you.

Too bad maribel doesn't seem to post here anymore. When I was researching Spain last year, I constantly came across her posts answering question upon question and she was always so helpful. Nice of her to have the guides available for anyone to use.

I've found all of the recommendations in Maribel's guides to be based on her very personal experiences.
This is unlike commercial guidebooks which hire sometimes untrained or biased writers who may not even visit the places mentioned.
Anyone who has read her posts can feel the passion and joy she receives from sharing her insights on Spain. It's too bad some people always try to find negative things to say or want to start a debate.
