Premier League Tickets on Craigslist
Hi
My girlfriend and I are very avid travelers especially abroad, as we live in the States. For this instance, I consistently find great/cheap flights to London for long weekends. A huge derby is coming up and a cheap flight came perfectly in line which would fill a huge bucket list of mine to go to. Of course now need to get the match tickets(sold out) before commuting to the flights so moving quickly is a must.
Every ticket on authorized ticket websites are a given £275+. Went to Craiglists as I often use it for things in the States, in which I find several tickets for the £200-275 value like the websites but also several whom are for £80-90 which looks to still be profit for the Season Ticket Holder.
My girlfriend starts corresponding with a Craigslister, now after some back and forth via WhatsApp seller sent me pictures of the Season ticket cards with the family names on them as well as the receipt for purchase. Receipt stated that it was a season ticket renewal from 15/16 and didn't issue a new ticket card and so still has Season Ticket card from 15/16.
Seller originally suggested they would mail the cards to me in the States via Express Mail and after the game mail them back. Once at the payment terms, seller suggested Western Union in which I immediately rebuffed and said I will only do PayPal due to the Buyer Protection. Unfortunately he states he will be in gone in Germany when PayPal will authorize his account so he will not do it and the conversation ends.
I subsequently log on and as myself, a new buyer, contact and go through it all again with the same Seller as above. Gave the same story that he will be in Germany while the game going on but after telling him I will be in London a few days prior to the game, he suggested we just meet up then and exchange.
I am very skeptical as I have read so many bad stories about scammers especially from Craigslist and they aren't charging the typical absurdly higher prices but a lot of this seems legit unless or I am just blinded by my desire to go to this game and perhaps don't know the EPL ticket system? Any kind of insight to help with this situation and future ones? Thank you!

Allow me to quote this that I just lifted from the CL website:
Deal locally, face-to-face —follow this one rule and avoid 99% of scam attempts.
Do not extend payment to anyone you have not met in person.
Beware offers involving shipping - deal with locals you can meet in person.
Never wire funds (e.g. Western Union) - anyone who asks you to is a scammer.
Don't accept cashier/certified checks or money orders - banks cash fakes, then hold you responsible.
Transactions are between users only, no third party provides a "guarantee".
Never give out financial info (bank account, social security, paypal account, etc).
Do not rent or purchase sight-unseen—that amazing "deal" may not exist.
Refuse background/credit checks until you have met landlord/employer in person.

Greatly appreciate the feedback.
When I was dealing with the seller, there was initially no mention of Western Union or Online transactions, just meeting face to face when I would arrive in London. But I was skeptical as I also didn't want to buy a flight over to London and not Ben able to get tickets. Seller also suggested that if I had someone in town that they could meet with personally and give tickets to to hold for me so that I could make sure I had them but I do not have someone.
Game I'd look to go to is the Chelsea v Arsenal at Stamford.

Why are North London's two major teams playing each other 100 miles away?
Mind you, if they really ARE playing at Stamford (where the seating capacity at the Zeeco Stadium is 250), no wonder it's tough to get a ticket.

My friend once bought a match ticket like that - from an unauthorized site. The seller did appear and give ticket to him, but only 10 mins before the match - in Manchester. My friend flied to Manchester without any guarantee in hand, and the seller ignored all phone calls, until 10 mins before the match. Needless to say my friend had a very nervous day.
There are all kinds of things on craiglist, and we here can not assure you of anything. The seller may be genuine, or he may be not.

If those tickets said 2015/16, then the chances are you are being palmed off with last season's cards and the con artist selling them hopes you don't know the difference between 15/16 and 16/17. The match will be at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea's home ground.
Match tickets are sold out across the board, including hospitality, so you have little or no chance in getting tickets from the club. Both stubhub and viagogo are sold out too. I'd guess that the only way is to try and buy from touts (scalpers) outside the ground, but make sure that the tickets are genuine before you part with any money. It is a very dodgy way of buying tickets and you will asked to pay eye watering prices. Watch it on the TV..
