hi!
this is our problem: we plan to do Prague-Vienna-Berlin late August. our ending point should be Berlin because of the upcoming IFA Show in Berlin which we are attending (for business). How do we get from Vienna to Berlin? right now our best option if Flying.
I understand that if we switch our entry point to Vienna, then Prague, we can take the train from Prague to Berlin for only 5 hours. But my schenggen was issued by Prague, thus, im not too confident entering Vienna using a Schengen issued by Prague.
please give us some inputs as to how we should do this. Our itinerary:
Prague: 3 nights (Will we have enough time to do a day trip to Czesky Kumlov/ is it worth it given the limited time?)
Vienna: 3 nights (should we do the Melk Abbey?)
Berlin: 4 nights (2 days for the IFa show and 2 days for sightseeing)
then back to Asia
thanks!

Just about to leave for an Elbe River cruise so can't help on transportation. We fly to Prague and then aboard ship on to Dresden, Wittenburg, Berlin, Hamburg. Already been to Czech Republic and Austria and area but not Eastern Germany. So what is an IFA show or am I dumb?

Melk Abbey - YES and the Wachau Valley by it YES - fantastic boat ride Melk to Durnstein to Krems - can take train to Melk and back to Vienna from Krems - outstanding scenery in largely vineyard-covered valley - cute old towns - like Durnstein - ancient ruined castle where Richard-the-Lion-Hearted was once gaoled when nabbed for ransom returning from some Crusade, so the story goes.
There is an overnight train between Vienna and Munich.
Anyways for lots of great stuff on trains in those countries and the Wachau Valley boat trip check out these superb IMO info-laden sites - www.ricksteves.com; www.seat61.com and http://www.budgeteuropetravel.com/id33.html#thumbnail austria (check out the box "Best of the Blue Danube).
PS the Danube is more brown than blue IME here but the scenery is always magnificent!
Do a search on Schengen as there was a very recent post about visas and entry points. I believe the upshot was that you're supposed to get the visa from the country where you'll spend the most amount of time but it doesn't matter which country you enter as long as the visa is valid for the amount of time you're staying. I'm sure there was other advice in the post as well.
With only 2 days in Prague do not do a trip to Cesky Krumlov. There is more than enough in Prague to keep you busy for more than 2 days. CK was cute but not worth leaving Prague for.
