When we were in Prague several years ago we ate lunch at Country Life (my guidebook gives the website address countrylife.cz). It was a self-serve vegetarian/vegan café right in Old Town and was very popular with locals.

Thanks, unclegus! Mr. Crosscheck (a vegan for just four months and thrilled with his dramatic weight loss) is used to tweaking the menu in regular restaurants...easily accomplished in CA, will let you know how that works in Prague.

Just a word of warning about ,non meat dishes that you will see on ordinary menus in Prague.Smazeny syr which is a Czech tradition and bloody delicious(Deep fried cheese served with usually with either chips or boiled potatoes and tarter sauce) is usually cooked in Pork fat. I have put in a link to a restaurant I use a lot and they have a small meatless section so you get an idea of what might be avaialble.Meatless does not always mean vegetarian in Prague.

One obvious choice for me is Lehka Hlava (Clear Head) that's mentioned on the Praguepost link that unclegus posted. The photo of the blue nightly sky-like ceiling with a fire place is Clear Head's dining room in the back. It is very dark, much darker than what the photo shows, really like a dark sky. I have eaten at this restaurant three times, once in the front, normal light room, 2 times in the back. Last time I took a Tofu Burger that was lunch special, it did not have much taste. 2 other times I liked the food better.

Beas is a vegetarian Indian buffet style cafe that is just off the main square , down an alley, and very inexpensive and pretty good food. Better for lunch as they run out of food
If you do a search on trip advisor there is lots listed.
